For those who missed my first post which shows my intended route, I recommend checking it out before continuing.mainescenery.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=flight&action=display&thread=7616It was a nice morning and the weather was very promising. I had found most of the locals at Soyo to be quite friendly, many offering advice or gifts to help me on my trip into the Congo. I went through the preflight check on my plane. Everything was in order and I had plenty of supplies and extra fuel stored on board. My first leg would be a short flight to Boma to test out the plane and make sure that everything was running smoothly. Taking off at the Boma Airstrip. Heading into the Congo River. The weather looked very nice if somewhat humid. Spotted this little ship on the river near Boma. I landed at Boma and was pleased that everything appeared to be in working order. After a quick tour of Boma and a little lunch I was on my way. My next intended destination being Matadi. Here just after takeoff you can some of the village of Boma in the distance. Passing over Matadi. The Matadi airstrip was rather difficult to locate and when I did find it, it turned out to be in too poor of condition for me to land on it. I had thought about landing on the water, but I had had warnings to stay out of the Congo River unless it was absolutely necessary. Besides hidden rocks and other things beneath the surface, there were also considerably dangerous fish in the river. See; www.boredstop.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=81and; www.backwaterbowfishing.com/myweb/Texas%20May%202006%20075.jpgIn the end I decided to push on to Luozi. ;D Landing at Luozi. So far I have traveled 160sm into the Congo, So I decided to take a short rest at Luozi before heading on. Leaving Luozi, and heading back up the river heading for Brazzaville. Reaching Brazziville. Passing over Brazzaville and searching for the airport. There it is! Comming in for landing at Brazzaville Airport, Maya Maya (FCBB). So far I have traveled a bit over two hundred standard miles and the next leg to Mbandaka would be quite long, so I decide to spend the night at Brazzaville and leave nice and early the following morning. Little did I know that the weather would be holding a few surprises for me the next day. To be continued.....

KBR- What scenery and water are you using? Regards, Royce The scenery and water are the defaults for FSX. The landclass is afrilc.zip and the mesh is in 3 files: srt2afr.zip, srt2afr2.zip and srt2afr3.zip. I think I got them got them all off of Avsim.

Nice, Kevin!!
I like the special touch to the photos - fits the ambiance of the plane and the times well.

Thanks, fellas. I'm having a lot of fun with this flight. I'm currently about 600 miles into the Congo and at Mbandaka, which I'll be covering in my next update. I may be stranded at Mbandaka for a while though because my foot started acting up again. (My doctor found a high level of uric acid in my blood so I'm now on some medication to help clear it up. I'm hoping as a result I won't be out of action as long this time.)
I also had fun coming up with a process to make these pictures look like older color photos. I wanted something with a late 40's or early 50's color photo look. I wanted it to look as if it was taken with the old Argus C3 35mm camera in the picture in my other post. Though I am using a little bit of artistic license as I think that camera is a mid fifties model. ;D

We all enjoy making FS as real as possible, but... developing strange African diseases whilst flying in the Congo is carrying it a bit far, don't you think? Hope you're better soon. Great screenshots, btw!

Thanks. The meds must be helping because the attack in my foot didn't turn out to be as bad as I thought it was going to be (about a month ago I had an attack that put me off my feet for 3 weeks, so its a relief that that didn't come back.) Right now it's sore, but not to the point where it's keeping me from doing things. I should have that next report on this flight ready pretty soon.

Hang in there Kevin, looking forward to seeing your adventure. Thanks, Sorry for the delays on getting the next section up. I picked up Xplane 9 last weekend and I've been pretty busy checking it out the last few days, but I do plan to get back to this pretty soon.
