Today I finally got around to trying out the final release of the Raildriver drivers for Kuju's Rail Simulator. The drivers worked exactly as the beta version I tried months ago. It uses a program that needs to run in the background much like the one for MSTS and disappointedly there is still a 20-60 second delay between when I use a lever and when it responds in the sim. Kuju mentioned on their site that there would be a delay on certain multi core machines, but this doesn't make much sense since my system is a single core machine. I'm not sure who's to blame, but I'm disapointed in both Kuju and PI. Kuju for failing to provide true support for the Raildriver and PI for releasing such poor drivers. Anyway I wanted to mention this to let my train simming friends here know about this. These drivers must work for someone or they wouldn't be available, but if you are planning to get a Raildriver control unit exclusively for KRS, I recommend proceeding with caution. In any case, the Raidriver works flawlessly with MSTS and TRS2004 on my system, so those two sims will continue to provide my train based entertainment.

Kevin, That kind of delay is certainly unacceptable......game-play would be extremely frustrating with that reaction time.
I'm sure that, once MSTS2 is released, RailDriver will be made to fit perfectly, just as it does with MSTS1.

I'm sure that, once MSTS2 is released, RailDriver will be made to fit perfectly, just as it does with MSTS1. Bruce I have a feeling that the RD will work well with MSTS 2 too. Since it's based on the FS engine, hopefully it will also allow people to set up any controller like in FS. In think a lot of throttle quadrants out there would work fine for controlling trains and it would be nice if people with CH throttles or other brands could use the levers for controlling trains. I'm looking forward to checking out MSTS 2, hopefully I'll have a new machine by the time it comes out. But if I don't, my current machine will probably do okay as long as I don't go overboard on the detail settings. I also plan to keep an eye out for the new TRS as well. I like TRS2004 and 2006, but I'm hoping that they will up the realism some in the new sim.
