So, in case you missed it, TS2 was publicly demoed at the National Train Show last week. Plus some new information is now publicly available. See : blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/From that link, for instance, it is now official; TS2 is due for "holiday 2009".

Hey.... I didn't miss it. I was actually at the train show on Saturday. Really had a great time and there are some extremely artistic folks out there. I think I could have spent all day just wandering around looking at those layouts. (I'll try to post a couple of pics.)
I did stop by the MSTS booth and watched and spoke with the rep on the demo. I must admit it did look pretty good....very much like FSX. There were some nice animation features such as people walking etc. However, the biggest disappointment was the jerkiness of the sim. Obviously I don't know what the fps was..... but would guess about 8-10 fps. I also understand it is still being worked so perhaps all the coding etc., would not be complete, but guess we'll have to see.
Cheers!!

Thanks for the link. MSTS2 does look interesting. I liked the way you could zoom out so far that you could see the entire planet. Xplane 9 has that feature too.
Too bad it's not getting released until the end of '09. I'm planning on replacing my computer with a core2 system some time in 2009 so that will give me time to get a system the will do the sim justice.
I wonder if TS2 will work with XP or if MS will be forcing people to use Vista as they are doing with some of their games. That's something I'll need to find out before getting my next machine.
