Back in to the sim world for a day or so.
Yesterday I installed GW3 as directed only to have it crash on start up. It first says, "Aircraft initialization failure: Cessna 172" (Even though I deleted that from the Aircraft folder) so I click Close and a few seconds afterwards it crashes with an error report.
I've installed it before with no problem (I think?) so I'm not sure why it's doing it now.
If the problem sounds familiar to you let me know,
Thanks -
Kobbe

Reinstall the C172. If you re-read the instructions you'll see that the C172 is the only default aircraft that you must not delete from GW3. It is required for the 'default' default flight, which the sim falls back to in the absence of a 'user defined' default flight. Dave

Hey Kobbe, I modified my default flight file (found in FSGW3\Flights\other\FLTSIM.FLT) and changed it from the C172 to the Ryan STA. Just search for a section headed [Plane] and the first variable under that is labeled Aircraft=. Pull up the the aircraft.cfg of the plane you want to use as the default and enter its title after the equals sign. (It MUST match exactly so I would just copy and paste). After that start up Golden Wings and you'll see the golden age plane of your choice as the default rather than that modern looking Cessna. Bill

The C172 fix worked, guess I simply overlooked that part.
Having the C172 show up on start up doesn't bother me, but that's a nice trick to know.
Thanks - Kobbe
