"Well its not over till its over."What was always a simple thing, sometimes can trip you up. Upon installing FS91UPD,in a new installation ,it gets rejected..Indicates its installed. This when in fact it is not. This installation was tried before any mesh addition...never had this problem before....Oh yes Slide..I,ll kill the Beast yet LOL!! Thanks for any help....Vin...

Totally new, or un-installed/re-installed?
Did you install from your original cd's, or did you (re)purchase. I think that later retail re-releases may have included the update.
Click Fly-now and then from the Alt menu, click on Help>About...to view your version. Also right click 'fs9.exe', select properties to check the file version.
FS9.0 is 9.00.030612.02 FS9.1 is 9.01.040901.01

Hi Dave,..these disks have been with me for a long time.Over a long time,I have uninstalled, and re-installed,many times. This time it indicated that I did not need the install of FS91,and thats its installed. So again I un- installed and again it gives me the .".its installed".This when showing that I have FS90 showing in help/about window....I wonder if somehow the computer retains memory in it bowels.Altho,I did the partial uninstall,as not to lose everything I have to date. This may be a factor. I kinda think now that maybe the problem....but I tell ya Dave, its a chore.I fixed my George Washington bridge.so I'll SKIP the Tappanz brdige...meanwhile I think i can live with this currant effort.however ,next time ,I will have to do a squeaky clean install, and not carry anything.Very painful!! Starting to see lots of cars from Wisconsin here now.The mid west is coming to the Gulf coast.I thought it would not be as intenese....But the cold weather makes people do drastic things. This with gas being somewhat reasonable,it will be hectic here...Thanx much Dave, tell me what you think, stay warm......Vin

Vin,
Assuming you had the update installed at one time: Did you start your partial uninstall by running the 'FS9UpdateUninstall.exe', located in your FS9 folder, before running the FS9 uninstall?
If not there may be remnants of the update left in your FS9 folder. This includes 3 files (the updater, an .rtf document, and the uninstaller) and the 'BACKUP' folder (..\Flight Simulator 9\BACKUP\). I have read elsewhere that the presence of the BACKUP folder is the trigger for the '...already installed' message.
If present, try moving the \BACKUP\ folder to a safe place, and rerun the update. You could also move the uninstaller in case it is part of the equation.
With gas prices now down to the 2005 seasonal average, my guess is there will be renewed interest in escaping the northern winter. Hopefully it will also have a positive effect on our local winter tourism traffic, mostly snowmobilers and silent sporters. It has been down some the last few years, partially due to weather (lack of snow), but also gas prices.

Hi Dave, your recommendations worked. The Backup file moved, and a different startup place for the update ,allowed me to successfully update to FS91upd.Thank you much.I'll remberer this for the future, and in advising others with this problem..Again Thanks....Vin

That's why I like this place..... (Smile) I actually came in TOH to ask a question about something else.... however, my good computer crashed last week and while I'm waiting to get it rebuilt thought I'd put FS9 back on the old computer. I tried several times last evening to get 9.1upd installed and guess what.......... Yep..... it's already installed, (So it thinks)
Thanks fella's off to fix that problem........ Maybe I'll remember my original question by then. (smile)
Cheers!
