Hello everyone!
I decided to replace my around the world tour with an around the Caribbean tour, mostly because the range on the Goose is only 600nm and that would turn into a bunch of legs. ;D
The Caribbean tour will start at Key Largo Florida's Ocean Reef Club Airport, however I will start and end the tour from the beech... after all this is the Goose I am flying right. ;D
Each leg is between 400-500 miles so the flying time will only be 2-3 hours between legs and (since the Goose is not pressurized nor has an O2 system) cruising altitude will be between 10,000 and 12,000', depending on conditions. Unlike my around the world trip in the King Air B200 and my New Orleans to Paris trip in the Commander 115 this trip will have to be mostly hand flown. I did install a Sperry autopilot in the goose along with my handheld Garmin GPS but this will still be a tricky trip to attempt in hurricane season. At the moment the area is full of weather and it will most likely remain that way throughout the summer. I will be using real weather (Active Sky) and flying the legs in real time so wish me well.
Right now the Goose (as this model is configured) is not really setup for IFR conditions, however I will have to just do what I can do and see what happens. This should be a good test of my piloting skills not to mention a lot of fun.
Below is a map of the area I will be flying and the rough flight plan. I have already planned 4 of the legs and will post the flight plan maps of each leg with a few screenshots as I complete the legs. I included the first leg map along with 2 shots of the starting point below as well. I hope to get in one leg this afternoon and maybe another later this week or this weekend.
