Is there a certain format you'd like the crest in ie bmp, png?

er... how about high resolution i.e. more pixels... I'll accept photos even. I can handle just about any picture format. I think your JPG is 160 by 255. If you can manage a photo 600 by 1000 ish, then jpg will do (no compression). If you have it as a vector graphic, that would be perfect, but jpg, bmp, png will do fine uncompressed Not that it looks bad now or that it will look that much better after. But we'll know.

Wondering where I am?
Hors de combat - victim of the snow. Right wrist, left ankle are splinted after a very elegant "Paso Doble" for one on some packed snow at work.
I haven't forgotten you, but no painting or flying for a week or three.

No nope combat, just the usual SAR work and No Twotters as they all flew the coup to Vancouver. But Quest Aircraft loaned us a Kodiak till the end of the Olympics. I'm looking theu our pictures to see if we have a suitable one for you.
You have a pm "This could turn out to be a bit of an opus magnus in a way. if you get fed up of waiting I can send you these raw dds sheets to play with while you wait. "
While im waiting id like to play with the sheets. Well its off to the FOL here, gotta welcome the CF-18's and unlock there Barracks and Offices and hand out Welcome kit.

God moaning Tom... sorry, I did rather make that sound "broken" didn't I? By splinted I meant just that - it is fortunately just a pair of heavy duty sprains to hand and foot that need splinting.
Wallet shaped bruise - that was my insult to injury too - on the way to the casualty doc to get the first slip looked at, I had to cross a stretch of packed snow / ice and slipped again - I was lucky there. I went straight down and my lower padding hit the ground first. It's that bad here that even the towns and cities have run out of the wherewithal to even keep the pedestrian areas clear.
Oh well...

I am back on the job with a brief summary:
Over the past days I have been studying the wire-frame mapping of the mdl and have discovered numerous (far too numerous) modelling and mapping bugs with the Aerosoft Beaver. Don't get me wrong, it is still a fun plane, but the 3D model and mapping sucks. I can and will back this statement with proof if need be, but just trust me, there are so many little niggly bits, that further detail paints are going to take a bit more work than previously imagined.
As I said - they are not big bugs in the mdl, just niggly and mean that there is a lot of detail and fiddly work needed.
For one thing I have to re-work all the panel lines and rivets due to different maps left and right. Or there's an outside door handle missing on the co-pilot's door, or there is no door lock on the stbd cabin door, or the stiffener ribs are totally misplaced relative to the doors...
...and that is only on the standard wheel model.
...and guess what, I was on one of the betas... The only thing I can say in my defence is that I was on the FSX beta and the model was "untouchable" and I didn't have the tools and skills available that enable me to spot these things now.
I have learnt.
I will let Aerosoft know though.

Some of you may have notice that I have been playing with the aerosoft Beaver... Well, I am sick to the eye-teeth with those folk who made that model. If any of you here were involved, please turn your PC off now - what follows may cause pain. Things have been puzzling me about the Aerosoft Beaver for many moons. Why could I not get things to line up, even though everything about the paintkit was telling me it ought to be right, it must be right. Well, I have finally reached a number of conclusions thanks to Gizmo at OzX and the tips about making your own wireframes. The aerosoft mdl is crap, with a capital crap! I will let pictures tell the story first: The positions of the pilot and copilot door reinforcing bulges... The brake hose goes through the leg not around... Just look at the positioning of the wing strut will you... How about that for mapping of the leg fairings? Overlapping bits Now the nose cowling has had me meshuggeh for weeks. First of all I discover that the cowl on one side overlaps the fuselage, so any detail on the rear of the right cowl overlaps detail on the front end of the right fuselage. But still things wouldn't fit!!! So I made a tape measure of one inch squares and got the scale as near as dammit is to swearing. Then I cut and pasted some of the tape over the nose cowl... and started swearing at my PC for at least ten minutes! They have made the right nose cowl mapping to a slightly different scale from the left! The rear "tape measure" is at least one inch further rearwards on the right as it is on the left, and yet the front tape aligns (ish) ...and to add insult to injury, the elevator trim operates in the opposite sense. So what is the point of my post here? Probably just to let you guys know that I don't think there will be a Hi-Res Redux of the Aerosoft Beaver unless Mathijs passes this on to the devs (which is apparently not likely) Sorry to those who are waiting for this paint...

I finally RTFM and discovered that Sibwings made this Beaver. I have written to them, but the response is yet to come. Somehow I don't expect much...
Maybe I should buy a copy of FSDS or get hold of GMax and DIY?
...when my wrist is fixed... Still splinted. Went to the doc and he asked why I didn't tear the tendons - a repair is apparently lots quicker to heal than an overstretch...

I have finally gotten totally fed up with this model. Much as I love the Beaver, I discovered too many 3D model issues to fudge over. I don't like to present people with a pigs ear and I am no good at silk purses I have asked the original developer if he'd do a re-build, but there are no promises from that direction. Maybe if I keep on the smooth talking...

Much later and after MUCH playing with the Aerosoft Beaver. I have discovered (and discussed elsewhere) that the Aerosoft Beaver model actually needs 5 (at least) different paintkits for the five main mdl types - amph, float, ski, normal and tundra wheels and for the different cabin configurations - single round rear window (military), single rectangular (5 seater) and double rectangular (8 seater)
In most cases the original devs mapped each texture slightly different, so there are many little buggy errors in mapping and alignment.
If you visit my website and check the repaints sections - especially the "Misty Moorings" page, you'll see I have returned to the Beaver with some success. Well... improvement.
