I regret that it has to come to this but when a big publisher sends you 26 bucks for a whole months of sales when you have over $400.00 in sales receipts for the month of April. OR as is happening with one other publisher who hasn't paid us in 5 months and currently owes cr1 over $3000.00 I have to put my foot down. This team is really struggling mentally and emotionally over this and I have to pay people out of my personal accounts just to keep things rolling. These publishers act as if they own us, they are rude, un thankful for the add ons we work hard to give them and they steal our money. They refuse to remove the add ons and just keep selling them and so there for I will not be selling our add ons from any where but the fspilot shop or cr1-software from now on. If people want these add ons they will have to go to www.cr1-software or the fspilotshop. I regret that this has come to this but These outlets need to be identified and exposed for the damages they have done to the community in making many of us designers just quit and disappear. Its piracy of a different kind. The worst kind, the kind that takes food off of your children's plates. Its discussing. I am sorry that this has been brought out publicly but you are our only hope. Our friends and customers should understand what is going on out here and why the community is shrinking so quickly. So if you want a new cr1 beech 17 or do335 you will have to come to our store to get it or from fspilot shop. So far they haven't ripped us off. All the others well what can I say... doing a simple search will identify them. Your developers need your support, we don't make nothing on these add ons, I personally get maybe $300.00 bucks every few months out of this racket the rest goes to the web site and my modeler, who is not probably going to quit because of this friggen bull ****! Sorry to unload on you guys but its a serious issue and very hard on this company and you should know what is going on in your community. I'm sorry. Tom Wood- www.Cr1-Software.com

Nothing to be sorry about Tom.......not being a developer, I'd never know unless someone speaks up.
Frankly......I don't care who I actually pay for the product, as long as I can still feed my addiction. (smile)
Best wishes,

Thanks for the info. While I personally don't buy much payware, I recently have been looking for a deal on one particular product and don't really know who to buy from. I want to buy from the good guys and not a bunch of non-paying scumbags. This narrows the field significantly.

I hear you man. I have had the same problem for years with one store. The will take it all if I don't keep an eye on them. Sad but that's the way it goes today. The funny thing is the smallest little store "down under" is the one that pays me the most each month. I KNOW they are not selling the most but they are honest.

This is scandalous!!!
I make it a habit of NOT buying payware, but have faltered on a number of occasions. I'd like to know who theser guys are so I can avoid them.
I really do not want to get a bunch of recurring e-mails at the address below, but, if you believe you can, let me know who these clods are!
Many thanx!!!

edit: I edited your email address so you cannot get all the spam of this world; it is a well known "internet convention" to replace the "@" for an "at" to avoid all the "issues" and bots and sub-human species who live in the net so they won't caught you...

It's not my place to "tell" on publishers or online stores. This is not something that directly effects the "buying" of the products, it just effects us developers. The message (my message anyway) was directed towards another developer and not the end user. I am sure this is done everywhere and in every type of market. People are people and this is not solely a Flight Sim related issue but an issue with any online store that sells non-physical goods whose sales are tracked by only the honestly and integrity of the online store. Some people are crooks and we all know this. It's just the way it goes.

Lets throw a positive spin on this-
Who are the good guys?

Well, Flight1 sends reports of everything and The Flightsim Store in Australia has always been great. That's about as far as I am willing to go. Again, it is not an issue to customers, just developers. Although I hear some real nasty stuff from my customers about one of the US based shops. Sad but again... the world we live in is about the money and not service any longer.

I have great relationships with Flight1, FSPilotshop, SimMarket, and PC Aviator. The only downside I had with PC Aviator was that they were hacked badly last summer and nearly lost their business. They came back strong, paid all that was owed and now I have a great relationship with them. Please PM me with vendors you had problems with. No need to manage down here. Thanks

Not to push the issue, but I'd like to avoid anyone not treating properly those of you who produce all the stuff that makes the hobby (way of life???) what it is.
Again, last time I'll bother you should you decline (don't even bother to reply - it's not necessary), but if you'd let me know through a PM, I'd avoid doing business with them.

Stew Well, I guess the BEST thing you could always do is just buy from the developer's own webpage. I only list the vendors that don't take an arm and a leg from my pocket and vendors that haven't given my customers problems. Each developer has different experiences though. Looks like spad54 has no issues at all while I have a few and poor Tom Wood wants to pack it in. So... I guess every developer has their own issues (or lack of issues in some cases) with online marketplaces. Best advise is to buy directly from the developer so we can keep 100% of the profits and not have to give 30-40% of it away. That's my best advise. Thanks for the support Stew. Us small developers really appreciate it greatly.

I bought my Carenado's Piper Cherokee from The FlightSim Store. It was the cheapest price so I went with them. But this makes me think a lot about who I buy from. Carenado is not even US, they are off of Chile as far as I know. It'd be sad to find out they are being ripped of from so far away. In which case they probably would be helpless I suppose.

Can you imagine what it feels like when you depend on FS modeling for a living and some guys are warming their butts on the money that you badly need in order to pay just the most basic necessities... >:-(

Can you imagine what it feels like when you depend on FS modeling for a living and some guys are warming their butts on the money that you badly need in order to pay just the most basic necessities... >:-( Well.... anyone (or most anyone) depending solely on FS development for their income might just go hungry these days. Since Microsoft announced the end of all FS development right after the released of FSX (I don't think their new Flight game counts) sales of 3rd party FS add-on software took a nosedive and has never returned to where it was. Every developer I know personally reported a drop in sales of at least 40% within a few weeks of the news. Other developers just called the whole thing quits. MS made sooooo many changes to FSX that 3rd party developers were putting way to much time into "fixing" their software to keep up with the MS patches and many of the older flight simmers who were die-hards since FS started (in the early 1980s I believe) just gave up on it all and stopped playing and buying. This caused more then half the long-time small developers to pack it in. There are a few new developers coming on the scene but for every new one then came on I will guess 20 or more quit. It takes hundreds if not thousands of man-hours to produce a quality "work of art" and most of the older developers had enough of the BS and just packed it in. Sad to see the end of an era but there is nothing that can be done about it now. The one big thing that is hurting developers that stuck around is that the publishers are charging WAY TO MUCH to sell other peoples work. 30-40% in most cases and that is WRONG! The store owner gets nearly half of what the product sells for and the developer still has to handle all the support... not a fair deal at all, but until someone opens a shop run by developers for developers this will continue. I would LOVE to head up a new online store that was run by the developers where we could collectively place all our products for sale in a virtual marketplace and keep nearly all the profits. This would allow us as developers to sell our products for much less and give you the customers a good product for a lower price. Great idea but would it ever work??? Hard to tell.

Thanks for your honest thoughts on this, Keith.
And since we are all ranting and raving about the crookedness in the FS world, a thought occurred to me -
A pirate buys a product with his own money and passes it on for free.
Some publishers try to steal a product and pass it on for money. With any product other than software this kind of merchandise is considered "hot".
Makes you almost like the pirates better, doesn't it?
