I've looked back in here from time to time over the past couple of years and can't help but notice how The Old Hangar has been struggling to stay on its last legs. So although I can't say that I shall be able to do anything to help reverse its fortunes I thought I might make a return to at least bid greetings to old friends before it and they possibly disappear for good over the horizon (although God forbid the latter!) I'll say straight away that I've no interest whatsoever now in flightsim but from what I've read it seems that I'm not alone in that. I'm still flying my own real aircraft though, when I get the time, which is not often as my time over the last couple of years has been almost solely taken up with designing and having my own house built here in the Dordogne. Construction is now coming to completion and soon it will just be for me to finish installing the kitchen (99% done), lay the floors in the bedrooms and decorate right through. If you want I'll bore you with more details should you be masochistically inclined I noticed that Vin left us a while ago, bless him, but I'm hoping that the few regulars that remain are in good spirits if not in the best of health. To quote Winston Churchill during a salutary period of WWII, let's all keep buggering on, eh. Best wishes to all, Roger

Great to see back and I hope you keep interesting us with stories and pictures of your life in France. I sometimes think that Bruce and I are the only people who ever look in. I hope there are a few more people like you who look in now and again and wish they would post the occasional 'Hello'.

Thanks Nige, good to know that you're still active on here. I'll be a bit quiet for the next few days as I'm getting ready for the house handover and unfortunately I've also got to go back to the UK for my sister's funeral. Hopefully though by the end of this week I should start getting my life back again and will be able to do the occasional post at least. Perhaps Bruce and the Sarge will do as well, we'll have to wait and see. Hope so.

G'day, Roger! I echo Nige's sentiments....nice to see your haggard face! Almost religiously I check this forum daily....usually first cab off the rank when I sit down with my morning cup of coffee before checking emails. So it has been sad to see old names gradually fade away and, like a lot of us, I no longer "flight-sim".....haven't done so for a few years, now. By all means keep us informed on the house project. If we've given up simming then there are still other subjects of interest we can share. In fact, whilst i think it it, I've taken up an old hobby once more and recently created a new blog on the subject...right here: bkfigurines.blogspot.com/2023/07/an-old-hobby-resurfaces.htmlCheers, and all the best.

Roger! Good to see you're still around. I know we've lost a few good friends since the heyday. Not much for Flightsim happening here anymore, just a small social club that sort of gathers occasionally. I check in 2-3 times a week but don't have much to say anymore. I hope you'll stop by now and then.
Nice figure painting, Bruce. I'll prod Bookman (Kevin) and see if he can remember his password. Now that he's retired, he might find time to join us. He's currently doing repaints for Train Simulator Classic.
Keep smiling - Tom

Nice see that some of the original folks check in from time to time. I don't check in as often as I should but I do really miss the good old days gone by and all of you, including those not with us anymore.

A quick apology to everyone. I'm sorry that I've yet again been conspicuous by my absence after I said I'd be popping in from time to time but the demands being made on me by my new house-build have been extreme for the past few weeks. I'm on the verge of trying to move in out of the old caravan parked at the bottom of my land that I've been living in for the last 26 months but there have been ongoing problems. And temperatures here in the upper 30s Celsius occasionally in the 40s, aren't helping either making the caravan unbearable especially at night. I'm hoping to get in on a non-permanent basis in the next few days even though there are some electrical problems to be sorted out and there's no hot water as the heat pump that will control both the underfloor heating and the hot water hasn't yet been connected. 'Non-permanent' means I'll be sleeping in the living room on an inflatable bed with one of those tube and fabric wardrobes for my clothes and other small stuff but it'll be luxury compared to the caravan. And I won't have to keep walking up and down my land from the caravan to the house and back again to do the decorative work that I'm currently involved in. With an aching back and other sundry aching joints I have to keep reminding myself of the ancient words of wisdom - all things must end. And that will include the present phase of my life after which I hope to be settling back into a more 'normal' existence. If there is such a thing

Roger, are you still in France?
EDIT...Yes, you mentioned building your house in the Dordogne. Stupid me!

Roger, are you still in France? EDIT...Yes, you mentioned building your house in the Dordogne. Stupid me! Yikes! I just spent 20 minutes typing a reply, touched a key on my keyboard and it all disappeared! Haven't got time now (lunchtime) so I'll be back to try again tonight

Happened to me a few times. Wish I new what caused it, or better still, how to get it all back. In my present peaceful, contented, serene time of life it is one of the few things that can get me screaming mad!

If you are still flying keep up with the photos of the stunning scenery you fly over.

Again....Today's my lucky day!!!! I must apologize as I haven't been in here in a very long time. I use to pop in every few days....but life got busy and I got lazy(er). Will have to pop back in daily to see what all my old dear friends are up to.....(I've missed you all!!!)
I have now found a new fascination with Flightsimming once again and must say it has grown into what I always wanted it to be.
Roger...I see by the date of this first posting, you must be finished with your Construction projects....well.....we're about halfway through ours. Kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room are now finished....the flooring will be going in next week and then new windows after that. The garage is going to have to wait until after the first of the year. But I can't wait to get out from under all this dust and chaos!! (smile)
Cheers,
