Hopefully a painter will be able to do Stuart's SPAD some justice. Dutch Tilburg, can't that I've had the pleasure, but always willing to give a new one a try. ;D I'm usually pretty good at tracking stuff down on the internet, but this was a tricky one to come by. It came out of an article in The Windsock. and they don't put their articles online, a nice gentleman over at The Aerodrome scanned and posted it for us.

Yes you're right, that one was a very tricky find...

Need a bit more detail around the heart insignia, couldn't make it out from the forum post and I presume it is a basic wing scheme Thanks for bringing this airman to my attention, certainly a unique story

Hmmm...This is interesting....found this website that has a picture with this caption "aviator Eugene Bullard, Lafayette Escadrille Flying Corps, posing by his Spad" but if you look at the fuselage picture, it is clearly different....
Scrolling down a bit further, we find this text.."first mission was on September 8, 1917. He was flying a Nieuport that he called a real sweetheart"

Will take a look around to see if I can come up with a more detail pic of the logo. Here is something I just noticed. The discription says the paint scheme is the "same" as Wells with the exeption of the Blue cowl. My question who is Wells?? after about an hour or so cruising the internet, I don't know any more about "Wells" than I did and hour ago
