I do not believe this historic place is part of any FS scenery.I know we can't have it all. There are so many battlefields, and monuments to see..However ,our football stadiums are well represented. The DC area is a joy to fly over also.Even though the War memorials are not there.Washington,Lincoln, and Jefferson have a serene land scape to look upon.."Ft.Ticonderoga" is particularly beautiful. As is the carrier which bears its name.At the bottom of "Lake Champlain",and the top of "Lake George,"or as it was once called"Lac Du Sacrement".It was very important along with "Crown Point" and "Fort William Henry" close buy. So much history.I always went there. It was always an never to be forgotten feeling. On the Sim ,I fly to these sites, ,and let my mind fill in the blanks....too bad! VIN!

I agree. While there are sports complexes, museums and such, there are not many of the National Historic Landmarks represented in FS. As far as forts go, I live in the Great Lakes area where such landmarks abound! Fort George, Fort Niagara, Fort Erie... For Ticonderoga from the air:

Thanx Kevin, "Carillon" never looked so beautiful. Its how I remember it.You can almost visualize "Duncan Campbell with the Black watch,Ethan Allen, and the Green Mountain Boys,Benedict Arnold, Indians,Frenchmen, red coats, and a host of others." It was big ,but young Henry Knox,,who in the dead of winter, took all those cannons to Boston, for General Washington in the Siege of that place.Snow, Wilderness, cross country, record time. ...Such is history......VIN

beana51,
Would you like to have a "Fort Ticonderoga" for your scenery?
If so, I'll make one like I did the Fort's in Havanna for the Boca Chica Scenery.
Either post yes or no here.....or.....send me a pm.

Magnificent!! The stone work, the roofs, and the colors are great. The 3-D effect wonderful. The cannons I recall, have an Ole green hue about them.Ft. Ti,flew many flags. At altitude its not to visible. As far as placement, again I will ask your advice. This tech stuff eludes me.What do I think you ask? I think that your very nice to do this.I believe both you and I will be proud of this.Maby over the main gate you can chisel in the stone "MoCat." That would be a nice touch. This is art as far as I'm concerned . VIN

Beana51, O.K., I'm going to skip the green hue on the cannons, but I added an animated main gate that will open and close as you approach and two flags. The United States and New York State Flags in the courtyard. The gate starts opening when your about 1000 feet away. Also, I added your USERID above the main gate. Futher, I'm going to add three or four different types of smoke for the different chimneys. The smoke will only appear at certin times of the day during the winter months. Not all chimneys will burn at the same time. Tonight, I'll add the doors and windows, package the textures and addon scenery file. If you'll send me your e-mail, I'll forward to you for testing. Then you and I will contact Tom and upload to "The Old Hangar" for all to have. Here's some screenshots of your main gate....... Hope you like! MoCat As for placement, I thnik you don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about. So......I'll place it in the flightsim world based on three factors. Actual Latitude and Longitude from Google Earth, Terrain at that location in flightsim, and the appearance of the ground textures at that Location.

Let's put all of this in in order: On 1-24-2007 12.52 PM beana51 mention that there are now historic places in FS and mentions Fort Ticonderoga. On 1-30-2007 2:06PM Mocat asks beana51 if he would like a Fort Ticonderoga of his scenery. At 1-30-2007 3:53 PM bean51 says yes. At 1-302007 9:03 PM mocat has pics of the fort and says it will be ready by this weekend. Now that is what I call service. Mocat your are fast..... jogger

Lifejogger and Beana51,
First of all, I needed a break from "The National Air Tour". Second, A fort or structure like that is real easy. You outline the structure on the photograph in gmax, extrude, and texturize. Waaa Laaa........ Fort 80% complete, the cannons were already modeled for Havana, Cuba and the Gate for Dearborn Inn, Ford Airport. Merge with the Fort, re-texture and Waaaaaa Laaaa....... Fort 90% complete. Now to add windows, doors, and effects, all done in GMax and the only thing left is to package, place and test. again, Waaaaa Laaaaa....... 100% percent complete.
Normally, what takes so long is the models, I have approximatelyl 600 models, I have made of different structures, cars, fences and other. Makes life easy.

Waaaaaa Laaaaaa! Great expression of an artists when they are having fun,and what they are doing is good,an he knows it.Also to include French, and Italian chefs. For me the same when looking at something beautiful. A woman,a picture,a creation, and of course any thing that has "Alfredo,or Pesto on it. (sigh) . Again I realy appreciate what you doing .I will fly over it always. In the true style of the French who built that fort long ago",FT. Carillon,"I will exclaim!Waaaa Laaaa! VIN

Beana, Beana, Beana,
How did you know I was French, My family came to America in the late 1700s as apartof the French Five Hundred which settled in Gallipolis, Ohio. My last name is Carel. In the 80s, I lived in Germany for 11 years, and I was walking though Paris when I saw my family name on a pair of shoes. I have traced the family tree back to th 1200s.
I am going home for lunch here in a little bit, I'm going to go ahead and put the windows and doors on and try to package early this evening and e-mail to you for testing.

AH, Mon Cher Ami,it is obvious, you have a certain flair about you. While we never met,our loss, I feel we may already know each other. The talent of Europe is always been an integral part of being a true American.I too reflect my ancestors past.I was impressed to be in an ancient town in Italy, some time ago,on an old church,my full name in stone.Something to do with the crusades. My ancestors home town twice beat off Hannibal, but did succumb to Spartcus,Briefly. You may know that is was Julius Caesar who founded Paris,as well as London. We are all brothers .Next to History ,comes Flight Simming, which I like much..Differance is they, did things for real, but we can be pleased in our simulation. However we all are what we are, each has their own story, and that don't change .Mybe you picked up on this Ole French Fort for some inner, yet unexplained reason,it rang a bell! " Fort Carillon lives!" CIAO! VIN Thanx Again!
