What is your conflict, rename GW3, FS9 and do away with FS9.
Or let me know and I'll try and help, emphasis on TRY!

Just out of curiosity, Mr. MoCat, Sir..... Are you going to share this beautiful item with the rest of us mortals? As a transplanted New Englander, I have been there and seen it and I think it would look great to see it from the air. Beautiful work! Having just finished a small airport with a bunch of G-Max structures, I do not understand how you can get done SO FAST!! Later, Fred Z.

lifejogger,
you remember that part I wrote about "TRY", well, here goes. You may have tried this, but if you haven't it may work.
First, go to main FS9 config file and print.
THEN do you copy your fs9 for gw3 or do you download from disc fs9 for gw3
If you copy your patched fs9 for gw3 the after up loading, re-print the fs9 main config, looking for a change in the video or texture areas of the config file.
If you download a new copy of the FS9 to your hard drive, make sure you apply 9.1 patch to that file as well as gw3 or you'll be back to memory bleed concerns for both fs9 and gw3 because it has changed the main config for FS9.
If this make sense to you the try it.
Hope it helps,
MoCat

FredZ,
Yes, Beana flies in FS9 with Gensis and USA Roads, therefore, he can't do a good test of the scenery. If you have default scenery or GW3 I'll e-mail to you and you can test. Then after the test, we will send to Tom for placement in the Old Hangar Downloads.
To answer your other question, speed in gmax. Depending on the type of object and how you want it to appear, there are several options. If I want to design an opening building like a hangar, I use boxs. The interior wall and exterior wall will have the same texture. If I want the inner wall to look painted and the exterior wall to be brick, I overlap two boxes with different textures for the inner and outer portions of the wall. In an object such as the Fort Ticonderoga and all the forts of Havana in Boca Chica scenery, I find a photograph. Also, I used this procedure to make the model Ts, buses, trucks, vans, steam shovel and dozer for Waco and Boca Chica as well as the upcoming National Air Tour. Anyway, place the picture as your background, if it's a satelite or aerial photo, I like to place it as the back ground in the box called TOP. Then I select line, with corner to start and corner to turn. That menu is located just below the description of the line. then I trace the object on the screen. Under modifiers, there is a command for extrude, once the spline is contect and extruded it becomes a solid object which can be texturized. For an object such as a fort with a number of walls it works very well and not time consuming.
When I made the cars, I used a left view, outlined the shape of the cars extrude and the scale the sides to give it some curve. There are so many tricks with GMAX, I've only touched the surface of it's capabilities.
If your interested in scenery design, Scenerydesign.org by Arno is a great site.

A special note to those interested.
I include the object files in all my sceneries. If you have an object placer program such as rwy12 or object placer feel free to use those objects in any freeware scenery. If you are going to use them in commercial software, please as my permission prior.

O.K.,
After a bunch of PM and posts here and there, I'm going to do a screen shot example of constructing a Fort or similar object in GMax. I'll upload it this evening. SO, if your interested in how I did it, go to the scenery design forum moderated by the one and only, Mr. Scruffyduck, and look for the thread GMax Fort Construction.

P.S. Thanks for all the great comments and pms. (NOT to be confused with PMS which is a totally different subject)!

Mocat, My Golden Wings is stock, just FS9 and FSGW3. I would be pleased to assist any way I can. BTW, thanks for the tutorial. Have not played with splines as yet. Will have to give it a go. I have to pick another Sacramento area airport to experiment on anyway. ;D Email or PM - either will work. fredz at pacbell.net and change at to @ Later, Fred Z

Hi All,"The rest of the story".Unfortunately I was unable to plant the Fort Ti,in FS9.I was a casual user of GW3 when it first hit the Sim..Due to a new set up ,I did not reinstall it.Now ,I going to get a "Round Tuit",lost mine. For me what Mr. Mocat did was to renew my interest in that wonderful world of GW3. I thank him again.Along with the great D/Ls here,Of which I see the "Creator" (Mocat) has a prolific inventory here.I can't wait to see them all. One of my genius kids will be with me soon.He plans to have GW3 on its own drive, and its own windows, all dedicated to GW3..Don't ask...please!!..He got me this far,so I'll stay with him. These professional people think they know every thing....well he does.....guess who taught him? well not me ...his mother did! "Yankee Doodle Went To......Why Fort Ti ..of course!" Thanx Vin

MoCat, I just got to see Fort Ticonderoga tonight. You are a genius! The fort is lovely.
Only have one question. I'm flying in winter (yes, I know, we all wish it were spring again, but alas, it is cold here til May), and I see that the fort's quad/parade ground is swept clean of all snow, and ice.
Is it possible to edit the file and make it seasonal?
Thank you again for a such kind response to greedy Gus's like me who jaust aren't satisfied without that last little nugget.

Mr. Bookman Sir. The parade grounds are swept, and shoveled by the Garrison. They were anticipating "your" review of the troops. With fife and drum, and in blue and buff, they stand ready. The command "pass in Review",will be given, accompanied by cannon fire and musketry. You need only to stand tall, and salute the colors (Be sure to uncover). At the conclusion of the event ,the commandant will serve refreshments.Make sure to complement his lady. Then report back here with your report. ;D VIN
PS yea I know...but its fun!
